Akiba Maid War Wiki

Nagi (凪, Nagi) is the main antagonist of the Akiba Maid War anime series. She is the head leader of the Creatureland Group. She is a former colleague and was once the sworn sister of Ranko Mannen.

Appearance[]

Nagi was a tall woman with pink eyes. She had long purple hair, and the underside of her hair was a deep red color. She sports a unique purple old-school maid-style dress and a pair of dark violet boots.

Personality[]

Nagi has a cold personality, having no problem killing anyone who goes against her. She demands absolute obedience and loyalty from the subordinate cafés, punishing them harshly if they fail her expectations.

Nagi regularly threatens cafes with implied death threats if they prove to be incompetent, unable to make payments, or fail any duties tasked to them, Oinky Doink Café being a regular target thanks to Manager's poor decisions. She dismisses Manager trying to explain how Kaoruko nearly killed two of her own maids, implying she knew all along about Kaoruko's habit of killing maids for sharing the same birthday as her. But turned her back on it as Sheep Maid's profit margins were higher than every other café under Creatureland's purview.

Underneath her exterior, Nagi is an utterly miserable person. She constantly longs for the home she had with Michiyo and Ranko, despite having killed the former and orchestrated the latter's imprisonment. Betraying everyone she cares about for the sake of power has brought Nagi nothing but misery, but she'll never admit it to herself.

Despite the fact that she loathes Ranko Mannen, she doesn't want to kill her. She even makes her an offer to work closely for her as the head of a maid café, which would have given her a seat among the Creatureland Group executives and wealth, respect, and protection throughout Akiba. In exchange, Ranko would have had to prove her sincerity to Nagi by killing all the members of the Oinky Doink Café. Despite wanting to make things right with her former oath sister, Ranko refuses to kill the Oinky Doink maids, leading to Nagi stabbing Ranko's hand and threatening to kill Nagomi with her sword. Although Nagi is entirely capable of actually killing two maids right there, she has a change of heart after Ranko breaks down and tells her that she views both Nagi and Nagomi as her family and offers to let Nagi take her life to let Nagomi and the Oinky Doink Cafe live on. She then decides that she will let the Oinky Doink Cafe back into the Creatureland, but demands ten times the amount of sweets money they earn in a month.

Her past as an orphan developed her hunger for power, even if it meant using violence and killing anyone who was in the middle; this was the primary reason her relationship with Ranko got strained. She then orchestrated the murder of Michiyo because both wanted to be peaceful maids.

After the death of Ranko, Nagi fell into madness, being now absolutely alone, so she chooses to take down the Oinky Doink Café once and for all. However, she is now colder and more ruthless than usual, killing two of her most loyal executive maids because they were against her order. She even kills General due to him talking about Ranko and how she still viewed Nagi as her sister, before lamenting that he had hoped they could have would out their issues and tried his ramen again. Just before she enters the Oinky Doink Cafe, she has a hallucination of seeing a young Ranko standing inside and shooting her in the head upon entering their former workplace. As she watches Nagomi perform on stage, she relives a past moment when she had taught a younger Ranko how to perform a stage dance properly. Ranko thanked her and said she hoped to become as talented as her someday, angering the present-day Nagi. She proceeds to kill the Lion Ace Maid from her personally managed café, Dazzlion, who had supported her plan, because she was the first to applaud Nagomi's performance. She ultimately shoots Nagomi several times after having completely lost her mind.

Background[]

As a child, Nagi was an orphan and went by the name Uzuko. General noted that even as a child, Nagi's eyes looked like they starved for something to feel complete. She was taken in by Michiyo, who raised Nagi so that she could become her successor at the maid café. With the arrival of Ranko at the café, Michiyo changes her violence policy to Nagi's discontent and puts a hit on Michiyo in revenge. With Michiyo dead and Ranko in jail, she rose to the top management of the Creatureland group. Her motto is loyalty to the group, and she eliminates anyone who does not obey.

In Episode 4, during an assembly of the café managers, she kills the manager from the fox-themed Kon Kon Café, who was embezzling Creatureland, intending to show the other managers what would happen if they dared to commit treachery to the group. She sends Minori Sano to the Oinky Doink Café to put them into shape, promising death if the latter failed.

It is revealed that Nagi was an old acquaintance of Ranko Mannen in the maid teahouse in 1985, where the two had a sister bond that was later severed. She was the driver who witnessed the assassination of their store manager, Michiyo.

She calls out the Manager for the café, killing off Maid Sheep, one of Creatureland's most profitable cafes. She doesn't give Manager a chance to explain her side of the story and leaves them to rot against the Maidalien Group as punishment for killing Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam. She was not pleased when they managed to survive Manami's attack on them. In Episode 8, she is reunited with Ranko after the baseball game. She believes that Michiyo died because Ranko refused to fight and tells her to fight for Creatureland if she still wants a place in Akiba. A conversation between Nagi and her driver implies that Nagi planned on having Kazue Ugaki killed if her mascot hadn't beaten her to it.

In Episode 9, Nagi orders the Debt Collector to rig the Lady Omoe Maid competition in favor of her own managed cafe, Dazzlion, to win by making sure every maid café follows their given guidelines. However, Oinky Doink girls, who were unaware of such agreements, broke the ecosystem food chain of cafes by beating Dazzlion in the Moe-sama climb. The result meant Nagi's café would fall from the top position, and in a rage, she shoots the Debt Collector dead for failing in his task.

In Episode 10, it is revealed by Okachimachi that Nagi organized the assassination of Michiyo fifteen years prior to taking control of the Creatureland Group. She hires Suehiro to kill Ranko, showing disdain when he refuses.

In Episode 11, she issued an order to formally kick the Oinky Doink Café out of the Creatureland Group, due to Nagomi becoming the winner of the Lady Omoe Climb instead of the Lion Ace Maid. After constant threats and harassment by other Creatureland Group members, Ranko and Nagomi visit Nagi directly and plead with her to let the café back into the group. Despite an offer to work with Nagi and become an executive within the group, Ranko refuses the deal, as it would mean that, in exchange, she would have to kill Nagomi and the rest of the Oinky Doink Café maids.

In the final episode, Nagi plans to kill the remaining Oinky Doink maids after Ranko's death. In her search for the maids, she kills General, who starts talking about Ranko and calling her by her own name, which upsets Nagi. At the Oinky Doink Café, the staff treats Nagi and her gang of maids like customers, and Nagomi reminds Nagi of Ranko, which enrages her. When she saw Nagomi's performance, she muttered, "You look just like Ranko," and after that, she started shooting at Nagomi in a frenzy. However, Nagi herself is shot in the head by the Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam Maid, who is moved by Nagomi's performance and speech on peace. Although she can still stand and look at her shooter for a moment, she finally dies after being pierced through the chest with a sharpened bamboo spear that Okachimachi threw at her.

Relationships[]

Michiyo[]

Michiyo served as a mother figure to Nagi, taking the latter under her wing when she was an orphan. Nagi was set to become Michiyo's successor. However, Michiyo is influenced by Ranko's pacifist mindset and decides to change the cafe's violence policy. Feeling betrayed by this, Nagi sets up a hit on Michiyo and has her assassinated.

Ranko Mannen[]

Ranko and Nagi were once formally sworn sisters when they worked at the Teahouse Café fifteen years prior under Michiyo. They were both presents when their café manager was gunned down by a rival maid. Nagi blames Ranko's stance on antiviolence for Michiyo's death and threatens her to fight for Creatureland if she still wants a place in Akiba. It is revealed that Nagi is actually the one who set Michiyo up to be killed and that she ordered Suehiro to kill Ranko as Oinky Doink begins to pose more of a threat to Creatureland. Despite their separation, Ranko still viewed Nagi as her sister.

Suehiro[]

Suehiro was a hitman who had worked under Nagi for years. He goes against her orders to kill Ranko when he falls in love with the latter.

Trivia[]

  • Nagi means "calm, lull"; despite that, her personality is the polar opposite.
  • Nagi's death is quite ironic, being killed in the place she ultimately wanted to take down.
